IMO STATE GOVERNMENT SETS UP MACHINERY FOR PAYMENT OF STUDENTS STIPEND






Imo State government has set up machinery for the immediate payment of monthly stipends to students of State owned primary and secondary schools

The wife of the governor, Nneoma Nkechi Rochas Okorocha disclosed this at the Sam Mbakwe Excoc Chambers Government house, Owerri during a meeting with heads of primaries and secondary schools in the State
 
Nneoma Nkechi Okorocha who represented the governor directed 27 Desk Officers and Team Leaders for the 27 LGAs to visit Schools in the State and ascertain the number of School children, their sexes, age bracket, number of teachers and facilities in the Schools and report back to the government

She said that the team leaders should go with some sets of School new uniforms, to determine the sizes that will be given to the pupils and students in various Schools

The Imo first lady equally informed them to check the attendance register of each class before making payment to ensure that the money for disbursement is always available

She enjoined the Team leaders to also collaborate with the Community Government Council to ensure that the exercise was successful

The Commissioner for Education, Prof. Adaobi Obasi expressed gratitude to Gov. Okorocha for his love for education and Imo children and urged the Desk Officers and Team leaders to be good representatives of the education ministry as they discharge their assignments in the various LG Areas

The Chief of Staff, Government House, Chief Jude Ejiogu described the gesture of the governor as a proof of his fatherly love to Imo children and requested the Head teachers and Desk Officers to take the assignment very serious

The Secretary Imo State Universal Basic Education Board, (IMSUBEB), Chief Okey Anyikwa said the stipend given to the students is further a proof of the governor’s love for education and welfare of Imo children and advised parents to help government by encouraging their children to be hardworking and to realize the importance of the free education
