IMO FIRST LADY CALLS FOR SYNERGY IN DEVELOPMENT




The wife of the governor of Imo State, Nneoma Nkechi Rochas Okorocha has called for synergy between the Federal and the State government to fast track development at all levels



Nneoma Nkechi Rochas Okorocha made the call when the senior special assistant to the President on Millennium Development Goal, (MDG) Dr. Precious Gbeneol with her team and representatives of the State MGDs on advocacy and sensitization visited her office at the government house

The governor’s wife expressed readiness of the State to partner with MDG in ensuring the attainment of the millennium development goals by 2015

The Imo first lady assured them of the security and sustainability of MDG’s projects by host communities in the State and appealed for more federal presence in the State.

She expressed her delight for the visit and promised to use her position as the first lady of Imo State to continue to create awareness on MDG’s activities in the State

Earlier, the leader of the team, Dr. Precious Gbeneol commended Nneoma Nkechi Okorocha for providing succor to the less privileged in society with the provision of shelter to indigent widows in the State through her “She Needs A Roof Programme” (SNARP)

She disclosed that a good number of projects have been carried out in Imo State under the auspices of the MDG and called on her Excellency to use her position to press it on the host communities to regard them as their own for sustainability, minor maintenance and security

She urged the wife of the governor to continue to encourage gender mainstreaming, campaign against violence and discrimination against women, as well as encourage communities to access available maternal and child healthcare services
