GOV. OKOROCHA’S WIFE BUILDS HOUSES FOR INDIGENT WOMEN




The two houses built by the wife of the Governor of Imo State, Nneoma Nkechinyere Rochas Okorocha for two indigent women in Imerienwe in Ngor Okpala L.G.A. under her project, She Needs A Roof Project (SNARP) has been commissioned by the Governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha

The programme which was designed to ensure that at least one indigent widow in each of the 27 LGA benefits one or two bedroom apartments according to the size of her family seeks to provide shelter to the poorest of the poor families who live in shanties

While performing the commissioning ceremony, Owelle Rochas Okorocha commended the initiative / the vision of the project describing it as a step in the right direction in the fight against poverty in the State.

The number one citizen of the State reiterated the determination of the State government to eradicate poverty while using the opportunity to thank people of the area for their maximum support during the last gubernatorial election in the State

The initiator of the programme, Nneoma Nkechi Okorocha said she was motivated by her passion to improve the lives of the less priviledged in society and called on wealthy individuals to care for and support the poor among them.          

The wife of the governor said the essence of living is being able to touch the lives of the downtrodden positively and thanked God for the realization of the project.

In their separate remarks, the member representing Ngor Okpala in the Imo State House of Assembly,Chief Ememka Nwofor, the State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Barr Soronnadi Njoku, the former Caretaker Committee Chairman, Ngor Okpuala L. G A, Chief Toby Ekechi and another indigene of the area, Dr. T O E Ekechi expressed their delight at this wonderful gestures of her Excellency and pledged their continued support to the State government.

The Director General, Imo Foundation, Barr Ngozi Njoku described the case of Mrs Ngozi and Agartha Alozie as special as the two widows were living in the same shanty building and thanked the governor’s wife for the wonderful and rare gesture

In their address, the people of Imerienwe were full of praises to the governor and his wife, saying that it is in the administration of Governor Rochas Okorocha that their people have received the dividends of democracy in the real sense of the word and assured of their maximum support to the State government.    

The beneficiaries, Mrs Ngozi and Agartha Alozied could not hide their joys as they burst into songs of praise and thanksgiving amidst cry of joys
