ARCHBISOP BRIAN UDAIGWE’S APPOINTMENT AS A NUNCIO IS A PRIDE TO THE NATION




The wife of the governor of Imo State, Nneoma Nkechi Rochas Okorocha has  described the appointment of Archbishop Brian Udaigwe , a Nuncio as a pride to the State,  Nation and Africa at large and prayed God to give him the grace to succeed

Nneoma Nkechi Okorocha gave this description in her capacity as the representative of the Imo State governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha at a thanksgiving Mass at the Holy Trinity Cathedral, Orlu organized by the Catholic Diocese of Orlu in honour of one of their illustrious sons, Archbishop Brian, who is now a Papal Nuncio to Benin republic and Togo

The Imo first lady used the occasion to urge leaders to use their position to empower the masses and not for personal aggrandizement 

Speaking at the occasion, the Papal Nuncio, Archbishop Brian Udaigwe who hails from Nkume in Njaba LGA of Imo State and who is also the Archbishop of Suelli urged Nigerians not to export corruption, terrorism, tribalism and other societal evils to the rest of the world rather they should be courageous to stand by the truth

The Nuncio while advising Christians to always be on the part of the truth, lauded Governor Owelle Rochas Okrocha for the State reception accorded him and the wonderful and numerous achievements Imo State is gaining since the inception of his government and pledged his continuous support through prayers

In his homily at the thanksgiving mass, the Bishop emeritus of the Catholic Diocese of Orlu, Bishop Gregory Ochiagha described Nigeria  as a country blessed with numerous human, material and mineral resources but expressed regret that greed and selfishness have deprived Nigerians from accessing them and urged leaders to strive to leave lasting legacies .

In his remarks, the Vice President of the Catholic Bishop’s Conference of Nigeria, Archbishop Augustine Akubueze of Benin Diocese described the appointment of Most Rev. Dr. Brian Udaigwe as a Papal Nuncio as a credit to the Church in Nigeria and  African, showing that all is not lost especially in  the religious sphere which he said is the hope for Africa

The Catholic Bishop of Orlu Diocese, and the Chief host of the occasion Bishop Augustine Ukwuoma thanked all who were instrumental to the training of the Nuncio and all who assisted to see that the occasion was successful, especially the governor of Imo State, Owelle Rochas Okorocha for the grand State reception he organized for the Nuncio 




Many dignitaries that witnessed the occasion included some government officials, many bishop’s , priests and religious including the Metropolitan Archbishop of Owerri Archdiocese, Most Rev. Dr Anthony Obinna
