GOV. OWELLE ROCHAS OKOROCHA URGES PARENTS TO BRING UP THEIR CHILDREN WELL



Imo children have celebrated this year’s children’s Day with a call on parents and guardians to bring their children up very well for a better future for the State and the country at large

 The State governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha made the call yesterday at the Children’s Day celebration held at the Heroes Square, Owerri

In the occasion of this year’s Children’s Day celebration, Governor Rochas Okorocha told the children that their future is in their hands as the life they will like to live will determine what they will be in future 

The Imo number citizen used the forum to teach the children the qualities they must imbibe in order to be successful in life adding that they the attributes every child must possess to become great in life and these include self confidence forward looking, the spirit of hard work among others

Speaking at the occasion in an interview, the wife of the governor, Nneoma Nkechi Okorocha  described the theme of this year’s celebration , “Our Children, Our Future Our Collective Responsibility” as apt and significant as it reminds everyone of his or her moral and legal obligation for the realization of the full potentials of the children

She maintained that there is no way the State or the country could guarantee a brighter future for the children and generations to come without the promotion of the right and welfare of the child

In her remarks the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Lady Anne Dozie said the annual event was to renew the commitment of parents and stakeholders to the needs of all children which could go a long way to prepare them for a leadership role in future

The speaker of Imo State Children Parliament, Miss Ugonna Eronini said the children in their last deliberation at the House passed a motion urging all stake holders to join in the struggle to provide the enabling environment for a better society for every child no matter his or her status

The occasion featured match past by various schools in the State in which Amen Nursery School Owerri came first in nursery school category while the Imo Model Primary School carried the trophy for primary schools and Rochas Foundation College won the trophy of the secondary school category   
     

The ceremony witnessed the appearance of the governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha, the entire members of the State Executives and some members of the State legislatures in the Imo State School uniform
