IMO FIRST LADY URGES JOURNALISTS TO BE OBJECTIVE IN THEIR REPORTAGE




The role of journalist in repositioning the State in particular and the nation at large has been stressed.

The wife of the governor of Imo State, Nneoma Nkechinyere Rochas Okorocha stated this when the executive members of the Nigerian Union of Journalist, Imo State chapter paid a courtesy visit on her at the government house.

She spoke of the need for proper news management adding that news could make or mar a nation depending on its management and urged journalist in the State to continue being objective in their reportage

The Imo first lady stressed the importance of leaving legacies while in position of authority and called on journalists to enlighten the public on the need to work together irrespective of their political affiliations

She commended them for the vital role they played in the information dissemination in the State especially the wedding of her daughter Uloma married to Hon. Comm. For Lands, Chief Uche Nwosu and called for their support on her life changing programme, She Needs A Roof Programme (SNARP), Women of Divine Destiny Initiative (WODDI) among others through awareness creation.

The State chairman of NUJ, Sir. Innocent Igwe said they came to present the newly elected officials Imo NUJ adding that since its inception, the new executives have taken bold steps to reposition journalism practices in the State.

He lauded the governor’s wife youth and women empowerment programme which he noted would help reduce crime in the State her monthly prayer ministry and most importantly provision of shelter to indigent widows in the State as well as appointing one of their members, Mrs Nkechi Ezirim as her Chief Press Secretary
