IMO FIRST LADY CHARGES NIGERIAN CHRISTIAN WOMEN TO HUNGER FOR GOD



 The wife of the governor of Imo State, Nneoma Nkechi Rochas OKorocha has charged Christian women of Nigeria to hunger for God and to succeed as the nation is waiting for the woman for a positive transformation

Nneoma Nkechi Rochas OKorocha gave this charge while been honoured with an award of excellence for touching the lives of women, children and society at large by the Wome’s wing of the Christian Association of Nigeria, (WOWICAN) on the occasion of their 20th National Convention of the Association held at the Ahiajoku Convention Center, New Owerri

Receiving the award, the Imo first lady thanked them for finding her worthy to receive the award describing it as encouragement to do more

The governor’s wife used the opportunity to appeal to all Christian women to rise to the challenges of motherhood and nation building

The National President of CAN, Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor who was represented by Bishop Goddy Okafor underscored the importance of prayer for those in positions of authority while calling on Nigerian women to shun pride and gossip

The CAN president, Imo State chapter, Bishop Stafford Nwogu identified Christian women as vessels for positive change and enjoined them to lead exemplary lives
 
The National Chairperson of WOWICAN, Mrs. Mabel Sowoolu while charging Christian women to be focused and undaunted by the present state of affairs in the nation, urged the federal government and ASSU to resolve the issue between them and call off the University strike as soon as possible  

Speaking on the occasion, the chairperson of the South east WOWICAN, Rev. Vivian Orgi pointed out that the panacea to the challenges confronting the nation such as terrorism ritual killings, prostitution, indecent dressing, armed robbery and kidnapping are fervent prayers and faith in God

In her remarks, the Imo State Chairperson of WOWICAN among other things decried of the divorce rate in society; and for its solution she called on Christian women not to compromise their personal relationship with God, their husbands and children

The guest speaker, Rev. Pat. Okafor in a thought provoking lecture with the theme “Soaring above the Storm” likened Christians to the proverbial Eagle bird that soars high in the midst storm, that no matter the challenges on the way of a Christian, victory is always assured as God is always his strength
