IMO FIRST LADY CALLS ON WOMEN FOR PRAYERS IN NATION BUILDING




The wife of the governor of Imo State, Nneoma Nkechi Rochas Okorocha has called on Nigeria women to rise up to the challenges facing the home and nation with their prayers


Nneoma Nkechi Okorocha made this call when the National executives of the Women Wing of the Christian Association of Nigeria (WOWICAN) paid her a courtesy visit at the government house, Owerri

She urged Nigerian women to brace up for action in nation building to be voice of the voiceless and help of the helpless in the transformation of the country

The Imo first lady expressed her delight for the choice of Imo State for the celebration of the 20th National Convention of the WOWICAN adding that every programme in the State is anchored on God as expressed in Imo Anthem which she said has empowered the administration to make giant strides

Speaking at the occasion, the National President of WOWICAN, Mrs. Marbel Sowoolu said the WOWICAN is an association of Christian Women in Nigeria which aims at addressing important issues affecting women, youth and children in Nigeria

Mrs. Mabel Sowoolu went as far as saying that their association also propagates evangelism in which women not only impart knowledge of God in their children but also live it out by being exemplary

She poured encomium on the wife of the Imo governor for touching the lives of widows in the State through the She Needs A Roof Programme (SNARP), the feeding of the downtrodden through the Nneoma Kitchen and the activities of the 2013 August meeting which have sent Stress in women into oblivion in the State  

She said they will not rest on their oars and assured to carry on their roles as mothers to assist in moving the nation forward, by taking care of the less priviledge in society and most importantly now by appealing to the appropriate quarters to call off the strike that has hindered academic works in Nigerian Universities for months

Earlier in his opening remarks, the State Director of Education for Youth and Women Development of Christian Association of Nigeria, Imo State chapter, Pastor Divine Echess used the occasion to express their appreciation for the success of the Rescue Mission government and the wonderful way the Governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha and his wife have assisted the association towards making the 20th National Convention a huge success and prayed God to reward them abundantly
