IMO 1st LADY LAYS FOUNDATION FOR IHITE-UBOMA SKILLS ACQUISTITION CENTER

The wife of the Imo State governor, Nneoma Nkechi Okorocha has laid the foundation stone of the Ihite-Uboma Skill Acquisition Center as part of the activities marking the Okigwe zonal grande finale of the 2012 special August meeting

While performing the ceremony at the proposed center of the project Nneoma Nkechi Okorocha said the center will empower women and youths from the area

Addressing the women later at the venue of Okigwe grand finale venue, Ihite-Uboma Council Headquarters, Isinweke, she described women of the Okigwe zone as dedicated, hardworking and supportive of their husbands and called on them to embrace their God given role as vessels for transformation

In their remarks, the Speaker, Imo State House of Assembly Chief Benjamin Uwajimogu, the Chiarman of the occasion, Prof. BEB Nwoke and the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Lady Anne Dozie noted that women have in various ways contributed to the transformation of the nation and commended the governor’s wife for the special August meeting.

Earlier during a solidarity visit on the Traditional ruler of Ikperejere autonomous community, Eze GC Ogbonna, the Traditional ruler and the Chairman of Okigwe Council of Traditional rulers, Eze Matthew Onwenu prayed God to strengthen the governor’s wife as she contributes
to the affairs of government

The people of the zone used the occasion to confer on the governor’s wife a chieftaincy title as Osidieme of Okigwe.

The occasion also featured Talk show, March pass, Food exhibition, cultural dance competitions and gift items for empowering the less privildged in society ranging from bags of rice, wrappers, among other things for indigent women, as well as presentation of prices to the winners of the competitions

Obowo LGA came first in the overall activities, Onuimo followed with second position while Ehime-Mbano smiled home with third position.
