IMO CLELEBRATES THE GRAND FINALE OF WOMEN 2013 AUGUST MEETING














The grand finale of Imo Women’s 2013 August meeting with the theme: ‘Managing Stress and Unity of Purpose’ has come to an end with a call on women to continue to be pillars of success in their various homes

Speaking on the occasion at the Heroes Square, New Owerri, the venue for the event, the  Imo State Governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha pointed out that it takes a good wife to raise up a good home while commending his wife, Nneoma Nkechi Okorocha for touching lives of the downtrodden through her She Need A Roof Project (SNARP)

Gov. Okorocha attributed the success recorded by his administration so far to the contributions and assistance from his wife, the Imo first lady

He assured Imo women of his commitment to assist them and prayed that the good work his wife started in Imo State be continued even after his stay in office

In her address, the wife of the governor of Imo State, Nneoma Nkechi Rochas Okorocha charged Imo women to maintain peace and unity in their homes to ensure a peaceful society

Nneoma Nkechi Okorocha described August meeting as a period when Igbo women gather and proffer ways of fostering peace, unity and progress in society as well as assist their male counterpart in developmental projects

Her Excellency, Nneoma Nkechi Okorocha noted that one of the ways of moving the society forward is by proper stress management and unity of purpose and expressed joy that the just concluded 2013 August meeting has rekindled love among couples while advising them to sustain it
 
The Imo first lady praised Imo women for coming out in large numbers for this year’s August meeting and their support for the rescue mission government and urged them not to relent

In her remarks, the Deputy Governor of Akwaibom State, Mrs. Ebe who represented Gov. Godwill Akpabio commended Imo women for the unity of purpose and expressed her delight for the support of Imo women to the Governor and his wife and urged them to keep it up

In his good will message, the Speaker of Imo State House of Assembly, Hon. Chief Benjamin Uwajimogu described the achievements recorded by the governor of Imo State and his wife as unprecedented and thanked Imo women for the unflinching support to the administration

The deputy Speaker of Imo State House of Assembly, Pharm. Donatus Ozoemena lauded the wife of the governor for revolutionizing women’s August meeting and challenged Imo women to imbibe the virtue of humility, prayerfulness and kindness which he noted make the governor’s wife outstanding

The APC governorship candidate for Anambra State, Senator Chris. Ngige said his visit to Imo State will be of immense benefit to the men and women of Anambra State

The wife of the former governor of Imo State, her Excellency, Dr. Theresa Udenwa charged Imo women to embrace the political change taking place in Imo for a better tomorrow

Dr. Udenwa who was the initiator of Imo women August meeting in the State thanked the wife of the governor, Nneoma Nkechi Okorocha for transforming the women August meeting and urged Imo women to continue to support government programmes aimed at transforming the State

The Chairman of Imo State Council of Traditional rulers, Eze Samuel Ohiri commended the governor and his wife for empowering Imo women in the 27 LGAs of the State  and prayed God to bless them 

In their remarks, the Council Chairman, Imo Polytechnic Governing board, Prof. Victor Couger and the Mayor for Orlu zone, Dr. Goddy. Obodo described this year’s August meeting as a success and commended the efforts of the wife of the governor at improving the health standard of living of Imo women

The Director General of Imo Orientation Agency, Prince Ford Ozurumba said the August meeting tour of the Imo first lady provided a flat form for women to brainstorm on issues for community development; and promote unity and coexistent among women of the State  and urged women to emulate the sterling leadership qualities of the wife of the governor

 Imo women from the various autonomous communities who came first in various competitions at their respective 2013 Imo women August meeting in their LGAs participated in the Match past, three legged race, food exhibition, disco cultural dance and beauty contest.

Mrs. Nkwerre emerged as the 2013 MRS. IMO ; in the match past, Ideato South won the goklden trophy, Ehime Mbano came second while Ahiazu Mbaise took the third position

The Sanitation Officer for Isiala Mbano LGA, Mr. Fabian Eberendu while giving women health talk on Community Led Total Sanitation harped on the importance of environmental and personal sanitation and hygiene to remain healthy
